Product details
Otto Fenichel's works Hysteria and Obsessive-Compulsive Neuroses and Perversions, Psychoses, Character Disorders, published simultaneously in 1931, are the first comprehensive presentation of the special neurosis theory. Originating from the seminars Fenichel held at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute, it presents the typical nature of the clinical pictures. The ego psychology that was developing in the 1920s is already recognizable here. The two volumes form the basis for Fenichel's Psychoanalytic Neurosis Theory, published in 1945, which was supplemented by a general neurosis theory and updated in its special section. Comparison of the two works makes it possible to understand the development of psychoanalysis during these fifteen years and shows Fenichel's effort to rescue Freud's theory of illness after his death and to reconcile drive theory and ego psychology. The two volumes of Psychoan.
