Sex selfies as a social media trend, misogynistic rap and party songs to sing along to, sex shops in city centers displaying masturbation devices, sexting and sending dick pics via smartphone, digital representations of sexualized violence and child abuse, cyberbullying and grooming, degradation and sexual exploitation through dating apps, and countless easily accessible pornographic offerings on the internet... Are all these signs of a concerning hypersexualization and pornification of our society? Particularly regarding the impact on the upbringing of children and adolescents with sex-industry-prepared scripts? Or are they also opportunities for necessary discussions about the chances and limits of sexual autonomy, perhaps even impulses for emancipatory sexuality and greater sexual diversity? This book seeks answers. It focuses not from a scientific external perspective, but from the authentic internal viewpoint of those directly involved in such processes: from people who earn their living in the sex industry, from individuals who experience the porn market as consumers, from those who experience both pleasure and pain, and from those who seem to cope with it all and know how to help themselves.
