Unknown texts from 1913 by Emmy Hennings, Walter Serner, and Carl Einstein are the focus of the new almanac. The Hugo Ball Almanac 2022 pays special attention to the increasingly recognized poetess Emmy Hennings, who was Hugo Ball's wife from 1920 to 1927. It begins with the edition of her early, previously unpublished prose sketch 'Charmette' from a diary of 1913; her prose text 'The Perhaps Last Escape' from 1916 and her travel book 'The Way to Love' from 1926 are each addressed in individual contributions. Additionally, previously unknown articles by Walter Serner from the pre-Dada period of 1913 can be discovered. Another focus is the work of writer and cultural theorist Carl Einstein: his relationship with Dada is discussed in detail, a theater critique of a Paul Claudel play from 1913 is attributed to him, and his concept of crisis is examined. Further essays trace the paths of Hugo Ball's last book project on exorcism and investigate Sophie Taeuber-Arp's relationship with psychoanalysis. The current volume also documents a contemporary Dada Walk and, as every year, presents the work of Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich. Finally, reviews introduce the latest publications on Dada and Hugo Ball.
