Since the collapse of the GDR in 1989, the city remains divided. While the entire territory of the GDR now belongs to the Federal Republic of Germany, East Berlin has become an enclave because the victorious powers could not reach an agreement with the Russians. Long live the "Free Republic of Berlin" under international protection! Since then, it has been contently drifting along. An unconditional basic income, financed by the cultivation of marijuana, which is sold semi-legally in the West, provides it with a reasonable level of material security. However, paradise is at risk as the increasingly unrestrained "Bockwurst capitalism" in West Berlin seeks to absorb the enclave. At the same time, more and more people are trying to flee from West Berlin to the East. This provides enough reason for the head of the all-powerful Fitzmann Corporation to attack the East Berlin enclave with a private army. In this precarious situation, a group of revolutionaries from both East and West suddenly sees the chance to unite the city happily forever. A very different Berlin novel: It would have been nicer if things had turned out differently.
