Product details

The artist and designer HR Giger (1940–2014), creator of the legendary film monster in Ridley Scott's "Alien" and numerous other environments, is currently experiencing a renaissance. His work is being showcased and celebrated in exhibitions as well as in magazines and journals. This book provides a comprehensive first look into HR Giger's studio and garden, populated by biomechanical sculptures, airbrush paintings, alien furniture, objects, graphics, and self-portraits.

French photographer Camille Vivier – known for her work with Stella McCartney and Cartier – has been granted exclusive access to HR Giger's home in Zurich-Seebach for this book, allowing her to work in various photo sessions both alone and with models.

With around 200 large-format photographs, the book serves as an atmospheric tribute to this unparalleled representative of fantastic realism. In addition to capturing the moods in Giger's studio and life-sized sculptures, Vivier has photographed around a hundred objects and artworks, as well as his legendary garden railway featuring alien motifs. In a text, Vivier also shares her ongoing fascination with Giger.
