Reading and understanding are cultural skills that are becoming increasingly important, and it is becoming clearer that merely acquiring reading skills is not enough. But how can we inspire children aged eight and older to engage with stories and non-fiction texts that go beyond short smartphone messages? How can we entice boys and girls to read books more deeply? The author team of the "Senter Kreises," consisting of six experts in children's literature, illustrates what the current everyday situations and media usage of eight to twelve-year-olds look like and provides answers as well as creative ideas for all those who care about the development of their children.
