Product details

The hotel industry is characterised by high competitive pressure. There is some evidence that this state of affairs, which is very difficult for many companies, is intended to last. There is no prospect of an easing of the market situation, neither on the supply nor on the demand side. Additional capacities are still being built up, and this at a time when demand behaviour, particularly in the form of increased sensitivity to price-performance ratios, is in itself already putting pressure on the occupancy rate and room price. In addition to the problematic relationship between supply and demand and the high demands placed on hotel services, the hotel industry is characterised by concentration processes. These, too, increase competitive pressure in the industry. The high intensity of competition in the hotel business has led to an increase in the demands on the decision-making process.
