Horst Janssen

A special aspect of the work of Horst Janssen (1929-1995) are the erotic works. From the 1950s onwards, Horst Janssen dealt with the thoroughly complex relationship between man and woman and also explored topics such as violence and obsession. He produced numerous etching cycles, watercolours, drawings and other prints that revolve around motifs such as desire, passion and death. In cooperation with the Horst Janssen Museum Oldenburg, the Städtisches Museum Braunschweig presents the exhibition entitled "Sex, Violence and Other Obsessions: Horst Janssen". In individual thematic islands such as "Erotic Landscapes", "Eros and Death", "Kiss", "Femme Fatale", "Horny Sibyls", "Fantasies", "Nightmares" and "Eroticism and Violence", various insights are given into the erotic work of Horst Janssen. In addition to essays, the catalogue contains around 100 colour illustrations from the entire spectrum of Horst Janssen's erotic work.
