Hornbach:Kurhaus Trifels

The 110-year-long, varied history of a house. Off to the summer retreat! Our story begins in Ludwigshafen at the beginning of the 20th century, a rapidly growing city. The industrial enterprises along the Rhine, led by BASF, attracted the rural population to the city with the new jobs they created. Smoking chimneys, factory noise, and air pollution characterized urban life. There was only one known remedy for the resulting illnesses: country air. Thus, more and more sanatoriums and health resorts emerged in rural areas. The expanded railway network in the German Empire made travel easy for the population and laid the foundation for the beginning of tourism. In Ludwigshafen, preparations were underway for the city’s 50th birthday. This sparked the idea of a recreational home for city employees. A suitable site was quickly sought and found in Annweiler-Bindersbach.
