In "Wood Science," the subject of wood is treated as a biological object, even when technical contexts need to be explained. This distinguishes this book series from a purely technological presentation. Thus, I wish to express how the harmony of natural laws, which primarily embodies the correspondence between structure and function, determines the emergence, shape, and construction of the highly specialized individual tree and the commonly used raw material wood, as well as its processing and utilization. The technology, the study of the processing of the raw material wood, should draw upon biology, the study of organic life. The task of giving space to this retrospective perspective using the example of the subject wood has always encouraged me to focus my work on this one object in the pursuit of synthesis.
