The book "What Does a Person Need?" by Sabine Zepperitz presents the approach of emotional development as a foundational concept in the educational support and therapeutic treatment of individuals with intellectual developmental disorders. Together with 13 authors, the editor describes in a practical manner how this approach can be implemented in everyday educational work. Various educational topics are prepared using the Scale of Emotional Development - Diagnostics (SEED).

The book is divided into three parts:

1. Theoretical Background: Basic knowledge about the emotional development approach, developmental diagnostics, and the fundamentals of development-based work.

2. Application in Educational Work: The authors describe in a practical manner the implementation of the approach in the areas of daily support, the internet and social media, interaction and communication, de-escalation, sexuality, grief, trauma, autism, dementia, the assistance model by Willem Kleine Schaars (WKS), and the group living concept, providing practical recommendations for implementation in the 6 SEED phases.

3. Application in Therapeutic Work: The authors describe SEED-based work in the fields of dance, music, and psychotherapy, as well as in the supervision of teams in disability support.
