And not only that – from mixed-up digits to difficulties with payments and problems reading the clock – everything seems to go wrong. The squirrel encounters more and more issues with numbers and quantities in math class and everyday life. He feels alone and misunderstood, as his parents and classmates cannot relate; after all, he usually does well in school. Elio becomes overwhelmed, and his fear of math class takes over. It is then that his parents realize how serious his difficulties are. Together, they seek help from a learning therapist.

This book is aimed at children affected by a math learning disorder. It is intended to raise awareness among children, parents, teachers, and the surrounding community about what school life can be like with a math learning disorder. "Elio Has Lost Count" is part of the "Psychological Children's Books" series. The disorder is explained in a way that is understandable for children in elementary school aged 6 to 12 years.
