Burnout

The burnout syndrome is increasingly affecting people in our hectic, performance-driven world. The authors demonstrate for the first time how individuals can be sustainably helped through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and how to specifically prevent an impending burnout. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a method that belongs to the so-called third wave of behavioral therapies. It focuses on cognition, strategies, and the individual's experience of autonomy, thereby proving to be highly effective for the issue of burnout. The authors explain how burnout arises from the ACT perspective and how one can break the detrimental cycle with the help of mindfulness and acceptance, regaining a rich, fulfilling, and self-determined life. The effectiveness of this approach has been thoroughly researched, unlike most other methods.
