Einführung in die Sportpädagogik

Sport pedagogy refers to both the practice and theory of education and upbringing through and in sports. Since the 1970s, the term "Sportpädagogik" has replaced "Leibeserziehung." Since then, the content and understanding of sports have changed, as have the conditions for pedagogical action in gymnastics, movement, games, and sports. Sports and sports education no longer take place only in schools and clubs, but also in other organizations and institutions, as well as in the form of guides, instructions, tips, and recommendations for engaging in sports. Knowledge and skills in sport pedagogy are in demand in many different areas, both inside and outside of schools, in clubs and associations, and with other sports providers. Therefore, it is important to be aware of the diversity of sports and to gain insights into its educational possibilities and limitations. The introduction to sport pedagogy appears in its fourth, newly revised and updated edition. The author, Michael Krüger, builds on the previous editions that he co-authored with Ommo Grupe, one of the pioneers of modern German sports science and sport pedagogy. The book is aimed at sports students, coaches, and instructors who teach and convey sports. It introduces the scientific field of sport pedagogy through central concepts and themes, starting from the question of the subject area, through institutional frameworks and the historical development of education and upbringing in sports, to the anthropological core themes of body, movement, play, performance, and health.
