Adalbert Stifter: Brigitta, painted in 1843, is presented in its first edition in "Remember Mein!" paperback from 1844, Vienna/Leipzig. This complete new edition includes a biography of the author, edited by Karl-Maria Guth, published in Berlin in 2015. The text is based on the edition "Adelbert Stifter: Gesammelte Werke in sechs Bänden," edited by Max Stefl, Volume 2, from the complete edition, Wiesbaden: Insel, 1959. The pagination of the aforementioned edition is included in this new edition as a marginal note, line by line. The cover design by Thomas Schultz-Overhage features the image "Frau im Spiegel" by Gerard ter Borch, painted in 1650, set in Minion Pro, 11 pt.

About the author: Adalbert Stifter grew up in meager conditions in the Bohemian Forest before moving to Vienna, where he vacillated between his middle-class profession and his artistic work as a painter and writer, temporarily focusing on novel writing.
