Author: Rüdiger Safranski, born in 1945, studied German studies, philosophy, history, and art history, and subsequently worked as a research assistant in the Department of German Studies at the Free University of Berlin and in adult education. Since 1985, he has been working as a freelance author, with his works now translated into 26 languages.
