This book provides a theoretically sound and practical introduction to the field of inpatient care. Embedded in the framework conditions of Social Code Book VIII, it presents the psychological stresses of children and adolescents and derives the necessary pedagogical support from this. Assistance planning and the socio-educational organisation of everyday life are just as central as the examination of children's rights and socio-educational family work. Fundamental aspects of socio-educational work in the inpatient sector are addressed - from the shaping of relationships to group pedagogical processes and the use of media - and an overview of the most important methods is given. Finally, current areas of tension such as working with young refugees and inclusion as a mission in inpatient measures are presented.
