Jannik's life is turned upside down: he has been living with foster parents for a few weeks. Everything is new. Why can't he just live with his mommy again, as it should be? Then he befriends Ayana, a peer who is an adopted child from Africa. She is happy with her adoptive parents but still longs for her "African parents." Both children are searching for their roots. Together they discover: children can love new parents very much while also carrying their biological parents in their hearts. Like Jannik and Ayana, all foster and adopted children have two families: one they come from and one they live in now. Where do they belong?
