On the occasion of the 80th birthday of the Aargau writer Hermann Burger (1942-1989), a reading edition is being published that gathers all of Burger's texts on magic. The volume highlights the fundamental theme of magic in Burger's work and thus allows for a better understanding of his poetics and poetology. Among the texts are two previously unknown pieces from Burger's estate. Additionally, this edition features 35 portraits of Burger by the photographer Isolde Ohlbaum. In an obituary for Hermann Burger, Marcel Reich-Ranicki wrote: "Hermann Burger was an artist who always went all out, who did not hold back. He was a person with a great longing for happiness. German literature has lost one of its most original language artists.".
