This sacramental booklet contains the new text for the funeral rite and thus replaces the ritual from 1969. The German text was developed in coordination among the bishops' conferences of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as the Bishop of Luxembourg, for liturgical use in the dioceses of the German-speaking area in collaboration with the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
