This new manual is presented by Professor Bernhard Richter with the collaboration of renowned experts in voice medicine, voice science, and vocal pedagogy. It is aimed at singers as well as actors and speakers. In a language that is easily understandable even for medical laypeople and with a focus on artistic practice, the functioning and expressive potential of the voice are introduced and explained. The foundational section covers the anatomy and physiology of singing and speaking voices, as well as voice acoustics. Following this, the individual voice types, vocal ranges, and registers in classical and popular singing are discussed. Additional focal points include the application of voice physiological insights in training and professional life perspectives, as well as psychological aspects of the voice.
