The authors have extensive experience in university teaching, pharmacy practice, and pharmaceutical historical publishing. Prof. Dr. Axel Helmstädter studied pharmacy in Freiburg and completed his habilitation in the history of pharmacy at Philipps University Marburg in 2004. Since 2022, he has been an adjunct professor there. From 2018 to 2022, he served as president of the International Society for the History of Pharmacy. Dr. Jutta Hermann studied pharmacy in Würzburg and Marburg and earned her doctorate in 1992 at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg with a dissertation on pharmaceutical history.
