The book, which can be used nationwide for training in curative education and therapeutic pedagogy, addresses current knowledge in the field of nursing and offers suggestions, tasks, and diagrams for teaching. Each chapter begins with an overview of the competencies aimed for, aligned with the nationally valid German Qualifications Framework (DQR Level 6) and the new competency-oriented qualification profile for training curative educators at vocational schools (KMK resolution of December 16, 2021). Following the illustrative chapter introductions are well-founded theoretical contents supported by examples, definitions, key points, tips, and tasks. Numerous photos, illustrations, and exclusive cartoons by the well-known cartoonist Phil Hubbe enrich the learning materials in a varied and humorous way.

The book follows a two-part thematic structure: Part A - Fundamentals of Nursing: Defining nursing, planning and documenting nursing, nursing theory, and nursing models. Part B - Selected Components of Nursing Practice: Communicating, caring for and dressing the body, moving and being moved, maintaining vital life functions, regulating body temperature, eating and drinking, excreting, resting and sleeping, general pharmacology, injections and infusions, hygiene, complementary nursing methods.

In the new edition, all chapters have been content-checked and updated regarding their relevance to professional nursing. The competency categories 'Professional Competence' and 'Personal Competence' are introduced before each chapter. The book is written in gender-sensitive language throughout. New illustrations and photos on the chapter introduction pages provide variety.
