Hecke

A son born after World War II uses the week he spends in his parents' house to learn more about his mother's life during the Nazi era. He reads her letters, talks to friends and relatives, and thus becomes increasingly immersed in the story of a brave and courageous woman who lost her first two children during those years. "Hecke" is the tale of a disturbing investigation and an intense search by the post-war child for a language that ultimately helps him discover and narrate his own story. Following his debut novel "Fermer," Hanns-Josef Ortheil here tells in a distinctly autobiographical manner about the hidden backgrounds of his childhood.
