By Prof. Dr. Heinrich Martius, Göttingen. The training of midwives today, like that of most other practical professions, suffers from a complete lack of textbooks. The few remaining copies among the students are passed around during the limited free time they have alongside their practical training and their teachers' lectures for reading and studying. Many midwives already in practice lack a textbook, or they have to settle for an outdated edition when they want to look something up. In light of this situation, we have willingly responded to the publisher's request to prepare a new edition of the old "Prussian Midwifery Textbook," which has always been held in high regard. The "Prussian Midwifery Textbook" has previously emerged from the Göttingen Women's Clinic.
