Haydn, Joseph - Piano Sonata E flat major Hob. XVI:52
French, English, Joseph Haydn, Georg Feder, 2020Only 2 pieces in stock at third-party supplier
Product details
The large E-flat major sonata is particularly popular among Haydn's piano sonatas. It was composed in 1794 during Haydn's second stay in London, where he became acquainted with the new English fortepianos, which had a fuller sound, pedals, and a wider range. These new sound possibilities may have inspired the composer to create the remarkably rich piano textures in the first two movements. András Schiff, who has a close connection to the G. Henle Verlag through numerous joint Bach and Mozart projects, was engaged to provide the fingerings for this masterpiece in the urtext edition.
