Abstract: Every afternoon, millions of students sit down to tackle their "much-loved" homework, with about twelve million in Germany alone. For many of these students, homework becomes a daily torment and a burden for millions of parents. A thoughtfully designed homework practice by teachers, which eliminates unnecessary assignments and carefully considers the few necessary ones, relieves students, parents, and teachers.

Thus, the intention of this paper is clearly outlined. This work represents an attempt to provide an overview of homework, its justification, and the problems associated with homework from the perspectives of both teachers and students.
