Jonas und der Heuler / Silbenhilfe

Eight-year-old Jonas travels to the North Sea to visit his sister Sabine, who is doing an internship at the seal nursery in Norden-Norddeich. During an outing to the island of Juist, they discover a crowd gathered around a seal pup on the beach. The seal mother is hesitant to approach her young and eventually leaves it behind. Jonas and Sabine take the pup to the seal nursery, as it can only survive with human help now. There, Jonas wants to take care of "his" seal pup—after all, he found it! However, like all other visitors, he can only observe the pup through a glass partition. Gradually, Jonas understands that the seals in the nursery are being prepared for their later life in the wild and therefore should have as little human contact as possible. At least Jonas is allowed to sponsor the seal pup and choose a name for it. And when 'Stöpsel' is finally released back into the sea, Jonas gets to be there too—what an amazing experience!
