Product details

Harburg - the lost city. According to eyewitnesses, the former provincial town of Hanover had charm and atmosphere before World War II. After the war and reconstruction, it was 'destroyed' again in the 1970s - this time by urban planners who built the inner city ring and the S-Bahn. This book aims to dispel the myth of 'old, beautiful' Harburg. Local photographer Gerhard Sczcepaniak shows that Harburg is not only lost but has also gained in many areas - a journey into the recent past with many highlights of the present. The analysis of a transformative development that is far from over is provided by HAN journalist Wolfgang Becker. A brief chronicle by Ralf Busch offers an introduction to Harburg's tumultuous history.
