Happy Learning - Happy and successful language learning

Language is the key to educational and life success, opening up opportunities. With Happy Learning, language learning becomes effective, empowering learners (German as a Foreign Language and foreign languages): exercises aimed at enhancing resilience, optimism, and stress management help achieve learning goals and make learners happy and successful. The guide is engaging, informative, and easy to read. It presents a new approach that responds to the unique challenges and stressors of our time, explaining backgrounds and connections with insights from research, and demonstrating how exercises to enhance well-being and mental strength can be linked to language learning objectives. It introduces directly applicable, tested exercises for the classroom and at home, along with additional tips that school children and teenagers can implement independently, and that can also be utilized by adults.

The author team: Prof. Dr. Michaela Sambanis holds the chair for English Didactics at the Free University of Berlin. She trains teachers and researches how we can learn languages successfully and happily. She combines neuroscience, psychology, and didactics with science and practice. Dr. Christian Ludwig is currently a visiting professor for English Didactics at the Free University of Berlin, where he trains future teachers. A major focus of his work, alongside literature and cultural didactics, is promoting the mental health of both teachers and learners in language education.
