Einstieg ins CNC-Fräsen und -Drehen

Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) refers to an electronic method for controlling machine tools, which has widely replaced manual control of lathes and milling machines. This textbook provides a practical introduction to the geometric fundamentals of CNC milling and turning. It is aimed at students and trainees in mechatronics and metal technology.

The following areas of geometry are covered:

• Coordinates and reference points in milling and turning
• Types of angles and basic rules of angle geometry
• Theorems of rays
• Trigonometric functions
• Rotation of vectors
• General representation of lines and circles
• Approaches for vector intersection calculations

Subsequently, all CNC commands necessary for turning and milling operations are explained, which form the electronic basis for implementation into control signals. These are selected commands from the G-code set according to DIN 66025/ISO 6983.

Forty tasks related to turning and milling provide the opportunity to practically test the acquired knowledge and independently verify it using the provided solutions. To enhance understanding of the final product, the application examples also include 3D representations of the components.
