Hans Bellmann (1911-1990) is considered one of the significant protagonists of Swiss residential culture and had a major influence on it during the 1950s and 1960s. Shaped by his studies at the Bauhaus in Dessau and Berlin, as well as his work with Mies van der Rohe, Bellmann articulated the desires for the lifestyles of his time in his independent and consistent work. The Swiss Werkbund honored this achievement with a dozen awards for "The Good Form." After returning to Switzerland in 1934, Hans Bellmann began his collaboration with the company Wohnbedarf AG. As a freelance architect and designer, he developed furniture, built single-family homes, set up furniture stores, and designed industrial products. He also worked as a lecturer at institutions such as the Zurich School of Arts and the University of Design in Ulm. This first monograph presents his work.
