Handbuch Zen und Buddhismus

This book aims to provide its readers with basic information about Buddhism and Zen, encouraging them to engage with their own Buddhist practice and to adopt an authentic Zazen practice in their daily lives. Günter Friedeberg was a Zen monk, traditional karate teacher, and alternative practitioner. In 1977, he received ordination as a Zen monk from Taisen Deshimaru Roshi, along with the ordination name Hannya Koun. From 1973 to 2008, he led the Mugakan dojo in Cologne, where traditional karate and authentic Zazen were practiced. "An Attempt at a Zen Explanation" was the title of some lectures he gave on various occasions. The lecture concepts have been revised, supplemented, and compiled into the handbook on Zen and Buddhism.
