Social spaces are at the centre of socio-political, urban planning, urban sociology, social geography and social education debates. The Social Space Handbook traverses these different disciplinary strands of discourse and for the first time fundamentally reappraises the perspectives on social spaces. The boom in social space orientation is part of the governmental strategies of the local, new forms of spatialization of social inequality and is therefore described as a process of comprehensive reformation of the social. The Handbook Social Space is the first basic work to provide an overview of the extensive German-language debate on social space for study, practice and research and opens up new approaches for its conceptual expansion.
