Universities and research institutions are an authoritative source of new start-ups and their innovations. Start-up strategies of the public sector - the EU, the federal government and the federal states - recognise their importance. Nevertheless, Germany does not yet occupy a leading position in the translation of knowledge from research into practice. How can this be achieved and where are there already examples of good practice?

This handbook serves as a reference and guide for university administrators, professors, student and academic start-ups, start-up advisors and coaches as well as other actors in start-up promotion in business, politics and practice.

In 30 articles, 40 authors - experts from the fields of start-up research and teaching, financing, taxes and law - have contributed to providing practical and relevant knowledge for improving the start-up culture in universities.
