Within the tandem elements, the crown gears of the sugar mills play an important role. These are large gears whose main function is to transfer the movement and power from the upper gear rim, which is driven directly by a coupling shaft, to the bagging and pipe hammers, while ensuring the relative position of the three hammers during operation. The power transmission must be very reliable, as the overall reliability of the sugar factory largely depends on it, especially since the power values can reach up to 600 kW under heavy overload due to foreign objects in the mill. A detailed analysis of the geometry, kinematics, and dynamics of these machine elements is presented in this book.
