You know them, you don't know them; they were famous, they fell into oblivion: The portraits of Hamburg's historical women are as diverse as the level of recognition of the protagonists. Prominent women like Heidi Kabel and Loki Schmidt are just as much in focus as those whose names many may no longer remember, yet who accomplished great things for Hamburg or whose fates were closely tied to the Hanseatic city. They all share one thing in common: Their biographies contain breaks, their lives were at times hard, and some stood on the brink more than once. Yet they all picked themselves up and continued on their paths. Proud and upright, truly Hanseatic. Journalist Eva-Maria Bast, who has already written two bestsellers about the city with Hamburg Secrets, is now, again in collaboration with the Hamburger Abendblatt, presenting a work about Hamburg's historical women. For her book, she spoke with numerous women from Hamburg who have intensely engaged with these historical figures. They convey their fascination for the women of the past into the present, thus forming a bridge across the centuries.
