Hallo und auf Wiedersehen

We are all born, and we will all die. The cornerstones of our lives connect us, yet they are pushed out of our social center. Photographer and author Annika Eliane Krause accompanied nine women during the birth of their children, through their own illnesses, and as they faced death. In front of the camera and through personal conversations, the protagonists consciously and self-determinedly prepare for their personal journeys across these boundaries.

The result is a book that poignantly weaves together the transitions at the beginning and end of life. The honest self-revelation of the women breaks societal taboos while maintaining the dignity of those portrayed at every moment. Based on the deep trust between the author and the subjects, a multifaceted picture emerges of the female perspective on life and death.
