Habsburg in Italien

Many people today are no longer aware that Italy's declaration of war on Austria a good hundred years ago also heralded the end of the long-standing presence of the House of Habsburg in Italy. Austria had already lost large areas of the Apennine Peninsula in the 19th century as a result of a series of wars; after the First World War, the Treaty of Saint-Germain finally brought Istria, Trento, Trieste and even South Tyrol under the control of Italy. This was the end of the history of the House of Habsburg in Italy, which the author attempts to trace in many different ways. On his "historical walk", which is also documented with many colour pictures, he mentions for example Lombardy, Naples and Sardinia, which fell to Austria in 1713 as a result of the War of the Spanish Succession. At the same time, the Duchy of Mantova also came through the extinction of the ruling family there.
