Questions of responsibility and guilt accompany relatives after many causes of death, such as accidents and suicides, but also after heart attacks and even after prolonged illnesses. In seemingly endless thought spirals, the same questions arise: What could I have done to prevent the death? Could I have done anything at all? Should I have noticed something? But accusations against others can also be strong, directed at psychologists, doctors, and relatives. Accusations of guilt torment and relieve at the same time; they have many causes and effects.
