Gstaad

When the first tourists arrived in Gstaad in 1905 with the newly built railway line, it marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation of the farming village into a world-class resort. In the following decades, many hotels were established, including the world-famous Palace Hotel, as well as half a dozen boarding schools. Thus, the world came to Gstaad. Like few other tourist regions, Gstaad has managed to harmonize openness and authenticity while remaining true to itself and its architectural style.
