It presents current concepts and tools from practice that are necessary for the efficient management of all activities along the entire supply chain, from raw material suppliers to end customers. The 4th edition has been revised both in content and structure. In addition to the two case studies from goods and service production, the authors have included brief excursions that demonstrate the concrete application of individual concepts in operational practice. New in the foundational section are, among other things, chapters on sustainability management, change management, and a more in-depth treatment of business processes. Innovations in the procurement section primarily concern procurement policy, service purchasing, and electronic procurement. Adjustments in the production section mainly relate to production management and project management. Expansions in the logistics section focus primarily on sustainability in logistics, the management of logistics companies, as well as information flows and systems in logistics, which are rapidly gaining importance with the increasing digitization of business processes along the supply chain.
