Product details

On March 28, 2020, just six days after the first lockdown was announced, Erwin Grosche began writing a column for the Neue Westfälische. From then on, he worked from home just like the editorial team, and nothing escaped his trained observation in Paderborn and the surrounding area. Whether on walks with his dog Milik on Monte Scherbelino, during daily visits to local bakeries, or while taking out the trash, Erwin noted every detail and diligently wrote down all the exciting bits as soon as he was back at his desk, providing the people of Paderborn with a necessary dose of gossip and news during this tough time. This continued until the shops finally reopened, vaccinations were administered, and people gradually felt safe to return to the streets in spring 2022. Erwin is, in a sense, the Batman of this city, at least if he had said, "I am what Paderborn needs." Now, he can be found again where he belongs: on stages and just as happily at the Weyher pub with a generous serving of fried potatoes. What remains of his heroic deeds are the collected 106 columns in book form, adorned with photos by Wolfgang "Kalle" Noltenhans.
