Grenzverletzungen in der Psychotherapie

Boundary violations in psychotherapeutic treatments often appear to be a one-off or individual problem. Attempts are either made to locate the cause in the course of the patient's illness, or the focus is directed towards an accused person or a perpetrator. Narrowing the perspective in this way overlooks the fact that systematic and institutional processes play a decisive role in the development and maintenance of abusive relationship patterns. The recurring patterns and dynamics in the institutional handling of abuse of power increase the damage and perpetuate the consequences transgenerationally. The authors examine and reflect on the defensive way in which psychotherapeutic institutions deal with cases of abuse of power. In doing so, they focus in particular on the patient's perspective.
