Product details
In the Allgäu High Alps, the "Grenzgänger Trail" invites you to an exciting six-day trekking circuit. Around the Hochvogel, the all-dominant peak of the "Grenzgänger," the 94-kilometer route runs - and almost exclusively on alpine and high-alpine climbs and trails. The Rother hiking guide presents the six stages as well as 20 other tours with which the "Grenzgänger" can be completed.
The trail on the border ridge between Tannheimer Tal, Bad Hindelang and Hinterhornbach, leads - quite demanding - at 1700 to 2200 meters above sea level. Here you will find glittering mountain lakes, rocky peaks, flowery meadows, well-marked trails and lovingly run huts away from the major long-distance hiking trails. Overnight stays are at the Willersalpe, the Landsberger Hütte, the Prinz-Luitpold-Haus and in Hinterhornbach high above the Lechtal. The 20 other tours described in addition to the main route include attractive summit ascents, more challenging variants, alternative approaches, and tours for a rainy break day in the valley.
The individual stages are presented with exact route descriptions, map sections with the route marked and informative altitude profiles, supplemented by lots of useful information and details of places to stop for refreshments and overnight stays. GPS tracks are available for download from the website of Bergverlag Rother.
Author Erika Spengler, who has been hiking in the Allgäu mountains in summer and winter for ten years, has written the first hiking guide for the Grenzgänger trail with this volume.
