The author Jeff Kinney describes in "Greg's Diary" the difficulties of a boy to become an adult. Greg Heffley is the name of the protagonist from Jeff Kiney's comic novel. Greg can't get old fast enough. In the first volume with the subtitle "Surrounded by Idiots" Greg has just outgrown primary school. The student realizes that adults have much more obligations and responsibilities than he or she ever imagined. The main character in "Greg's diary" is lazy, selfish, underweight and a little greedy. Showering more and using deodorant are just two things that Greg could do without when he grows up. Even watching embarrassing educational videos and reading books about puberty are not exactly what he counts as his wishful thinking on his way into adult life. When his mother decides to go back to school, Greg is finally convinced that it is better to remain a boy. Because making sandwiches, doing the laundry and doing the housework are really things for adults and not for Greg himself. "Greg's Diary" by Jeff Kinney is a book mixed in with comic books. The individual stories should be based on autobiographical experiences from the childhood of Jeff Kinney.
