Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz

A contemporary reader is both fascinated and perplexed by Leibniz's attempt to explain the entire world in a strictly scientific and fully rational manner. They are astonished to realize that Leibniz, far ahead of his time, anticipated discoveries of later centuries. On the other hand, some of his metaphysical assumptions may initially seem absurd, such as: individual units produce the entire sequence of their ideas from within themselves without any real external influences. Therefore, one can derive the entire life history seamlessly from their concept at any time (even in the stage of pure possibility). This book aims not only to present Leibniz's thoughts and document them historically but also to explore the underlying questions and scientific concerns, attempting to trace their argumentative foundations accurately. Thus, what initially seems strange may become understandable and, if necessary, verifiable. Consequently, everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen is optimal and therefore necessary, but as mentioned, based on a necessity that does not take away freedom, as it does not restrict will and the use of reason.
