Since 2011, the new procedural regulations in civil and criminal proceedings have been in effect, leading to adjustments in the cantonal court and authority organization. The GOG, as the successor to the former GVG, regulates, among other things, the subject matter jurisdiction of the courts and also came into force on January 1, 2011. It has largely proven itself in the first five years. However, during the implementation, certain regulations have been found to be contrary to federal law or impractical, and recently the public has agreed to abolish lay judges. The revised and updated commentary captures all the innovations and provides an overview of the application of the GOG in legal practice. In addition to published decisions and legal opinions, numerous unpublished court rulings are also taken into account.
