'When God painted the world, the colours fell from his hand at Lake Garda and poured over the land. The inhabitants of the lake, which is embedded in the three Italian provinces of Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino, proudly tell this story. During the high season, however, you need a little patience when the queues of cars on the Gardesana Orientale and Gardesana Occidentale - the panoramic roads on the right and left side of the lake respectively - creep along. Nevertheless, Lake Garda has remained a little corner of paradise: Just a short distance away from the major tourist centres, hidden gems can be discovered every day.
