Christmas time in Vienna. At Café Heller, the Christmas party of the clothing company Frick coincides with a debate of a philosophers' circle. All attention is focused on the outspoken Veronika Plank, who seems to be involved with several men in one way or another. After a few glasses of punch, a quarrel breaks out, and Veronika leaves the café. Shortly thereafter, her body is discovered in the fresh snow, apparently strangled with a scarf. It is clear that this delicate case does not leave Chief Inspector Leopold indifferent either.
